Arrival in Phuket!

Claire has picked the photos for this article, I can only presume she is talking about how we had to share our seat on the plane, that i bought a new suit and that i have never been in a limo! Anyway we arrived in Phuket on the evening of the 10th of August! Niamh and Ella had kindly hired a car to pick us up from the airport. Which was a welcomed change from public transport after a 12 hour bus to Vientiane and a 3 hour bus to Udon Thani and 3 hour flight to Phuket.

Nous avons pris un bus de nuit tres douloureux nous ramenant sur Vientiane (sieges pas inclinables, climatisation qui marche a peine et extinction des feux a 20h!) du coup notre plan de prendre notre derniere journee pour visiter la capitale est tombe a l'eau : on a passe la demi-journee a dormir. Heureusement, nous avons rencontre Marta et Fausto pour notre derniere nuit!

Le lendemain, 3 heures de bus pour Udon Thani (nord-est de la Thailande) d'ou partait notre vol pour Phuket.
Les amis, on peut vous dire une chose: apres tous ces bus, l'avion c'est le LUXE!

Nous avons donc ete accueilli par Ella, la soeur de Gearoid et Niamh, sa coloc, qui avaient meme loue une voiture pour venir nous chercher! Quand je vous dis que c'est le luxe ici!

Le lendemain, les filles nous ont fait faire le tour de Phuket et nous sommes alles voir le "big Buddha" (qu'on peut voir du sommet de la colline). C'est juste immense!

Got to the girls house, lovely thai style house, was introduced to sang som, a delicious dark rum from thailand, met a few of the girls friends and had an early night. The following day we made use of the car and went on a tour around phuket island. A fun day out had by all!

Je sais pas si c'est le fait de retrouver sa famille ou quoi mais Gearoid a commence a voir le drapeau irlandais flotter un peu partout...

It was good to finally have arrived in phuket, a base for 3 weeks. For the next 3 weeks, we didnt have to find accomodation, search for places to eat or go on 12 hour bus journeys. All we had to do was chill out on a beach and drink Sang Som. Easy living!
