Saigon (HCMC si vous etes cool) - (HCMC if you're cool)

Si vous etes un routard cool, vous savez que les villes connues portent parfois d'autres noms et vous pouvez ainsi faire partie du club des "j'ai fait le tour du monde 23 fois et l'an prochain je fais l'antartique en snowboard".
Vous avez donc Kuala Lumpur = KL, New York City = NYC, Ho Chi Minh City = HCMC (mais c'est encore plus cool de dire Saigon), et Toulouse = TLS. Comment ca c'est pas aussi connu?? Desolee on a plus d'autres exemples en tete mais c'est parce qu'on est pas encore assez cool.
Bref, le nom d'Ho Chi Minh City (soit HCMC ) a ete donne apres la guerre, lorsque nord et sud deciderent de s'unir sous un meme modele communiste, mais "Saigon" reste tres courant.

If you're a cool backpacker, you know that famous cities sometimes have different names than their usual ones, and you can thus belong to the club of the "i've been around the world 23 times and i'm "doing" antartica on a snowboard next year". (Oh yes, and you also "do" a place, "visit" is for losers. Or just common people, you decide.)
So, you have Kuala Lumpur = KL, New York City = NYC, Ho Chi Minh City = HCMC (but it's even cooler to say Saigon), and Galway = GWY. What do you mean it's not as famous?? Sorry, we don't have other examples in our minds but that's because we're not cool enough YET.
Anyway, the name of Ho Chi Minh City (or HCMC ) was given after the war, when north and south decided to unify under a same communist model, but "Saigon" is still very common.

Depart d'Hoi An a 18h et arrivee a Saigon a ... 20h le lendemain! Bien sur, le bus n'etait pas direct (on aurait du s'en douter), du coup on s'est arretes 1h30 a Nha Trang, sur la cote, pour le petit dej.

Departure from Hoi An at 6pm and arrival in Saigon at ... 8pm the following day! Of course, the bus wasnt direct (we should have guessed it), so we stopped for 1h30 in Nha Trang, on the coast, for breakfast.

Nous avons decide de ne rien faire de trop "touristique" lors de nos deux jours a Saigon, par peur de tomber dans un enieme piege a touristes et par desir de garder un bon souvenir de nos derniers jours au Vietnam. Donc pas de musees, juste un "feeling du buzz de la city"...

We decided not to do anything touristic for our two days in Saigon, afraid to fall in another tourist-trap and willing to keep a good memory of our last days in Vietnam. So no museum, just a feeling of the city's buzz...

Et le cote richou de la ville: un immense centre commercial rempli de magasins de luxe. Meme prix qu'en Europe. Ils viennent d'ouvrir il y a un mois et on se demande vraiment s'ils vont trouver de la clientele. Nous, ca nous a semble un peu vide...

And the wealthy part of the city: a huge commercial centre full of luxury shops. Same prices than in Europe. They just opened a month ago and you wonder how they're going to find customers. To us, it seemed pretty empty...

Enfin, nous assistons a une seance de tai chi sur fond de grattes-ciel asiatiques lorsque la nuit tombe .
Eventually, we observed a session of tai chi at night fall, with a background of asian skyscrapers.
