Ooty – le petit train/the little train

sunny 28 °C
View Askeaton to Yonder! on g-c's travel map.

The main attraction of Ooty is mostly its miniature train and it was given the World Heritage status by UNESCO in 2005. In normal times, it takes 5 hours to do 45 km (!) because it’s going through the mountains. But since there was an accident last November, most of the journey is cut and the train only goes to “Coonoor”, means 10 km and 1 hour journey.
PS: sorry for people who have vertigo that you’re only learning this now, but we thought that it may be better for you not to know that we were on a miniature train (that had an accident 5 months ago) travelling around high mountains, before we actually did it.

Et nous voila partis !

Here we are, on the way !

Le passage a niveau a l’ancienne

The old rail system (all complaints about translation must be sent to Gearoid who’s reading his book while I’m writing this article and does not seem to bother much :) )

Kids overexcited by the miniature train ! (and screaming like mad going through tunnels!)

YOU MAY NOT READ FRENCH BUT THIS BIT IS FOR YOU !!)

After 1 hour train, we arrived in Coonoor where not much was waiting for us, except a photo session and we dedicate some of the pictures to someone who will recognise himself (YES CONOR, IT’S YOU !)

We decided to do the trip back to Ooty at the back of the train

But Gearoid quickly realised that it may not have been the best idea of the day…

Donc pour repondre a l’invitation :

So, to answer to the invitation made :

Decidement !)

Plan more space for tall people’s legs !!

Retour a Ooty…Back to Ooty…

Prochaine etape : Mysore (5 heures de bus) !

Next step : Mysore (5 hours bus) !
